Remember
what it felt like
the very first time
finding the heart
of the sound
beating louder
than mine
Now I open
the door at will
I’m there, inhabited,
music racing
through my veins,
chain-lightning,
until I glow
with rhythm and joy
Money can’t buy this
but I can share it
show the way in,
open the door
as others have
for me
Looking ahead
to those I followed . . .
Looking behind
to those following . . .
I am content
with my place
in the chain
