John Whelan & Donna Hébert: The Irish-French Connection
With guitarists Max Cohen, Flynn Cohen, singer Molly Hebert-Wilson. The Irish-French-Canadian connection is explored in this exciting new ensemble. John and I showcase the music of both cultures in the U.S. with the help of Gaelic singer Molly Hebert-Wilson, Max Cohen and Flynn Cohen (no relation except they are both fabulous guitarists!). Bookings for 2010 include the Franco-American Center in Lowell MA, NYU’s Blarney Star Concert Series at Glucksman Ireland House, the Old Songs Concert Series in Voorheesville NY and the Blackstone River Theatre in Cumberland RI. I play with my daughter Molly Hebert-Wilson, Max Cohen and fiddler Katherine First. We feature Celtic and French-Canadian fiddling and contemporary folk music in our concerts, teaching workshops for guitar, fiddle, Gaelic singing. 2010 bookings include Amherst College, WAMC’s Dancing on the Air with Jay Ungar and Molly Mason and Old Songs Festival of Music and Dance. Groovemama
I play and teach with Jane Rothfield, Max Cohen, George Wilson, Stuart Kenney. We play Old-Time music and are also a contradance band, coaching Great Groove Bands at Old Songs (see photo below) and Philadelphia Folk Festivals.
